flashback of the week

the strokes – is this it – last nite

it’s 2001. the soon-to-be saviors of rock n roll release a generation-defining masterpiece of a debut album. personally, i cannot wait to read what people have to say about this album twenty or thirty years from now. it’s already hard to believe this song is already ten years old – it’s hard to tell this song has aged a single day. regardless of how much you love or can’t stand “is this it”, you at least owe the new york bunch a thank you – if it wasn’t for them, we’d still have to deal with the likes of korn and limp bizkit.

song of the day

the strokes – angles – under cover of darkness

i love the strokes. judge me. i don’t care. it’s been half a decade, yes five long years, since their last album. they released this single as a free download on their website yesterday. it will be free for one more day, so do yourself a favor, sign over your email, and get your hands on this catchy and upbeat gem and bop around all day. the boys are back and lovable as ever. the new album is out march 23rd. www.thestrokes.com

video of strokes recording in studio

the strokes have released a teaser for their upcoming, rumored to be released in september, album. julian casablancas is missing from the video, but the rest of boys don’t seem to be mind one bit. they seem to be enjoying themselves quite a bit with mr. hammond jr. looking sleek in a new do. they are working on a song called “taken for a fool” with white stripes, shins, and my morning jacket producer joe chiccarelli at avatar studios in new york city.

the strokes are back in the studio

the strokes are finally back in the studio working on a new album. it’s been 4 years since the band has released an album together. virtually every member of the band has released a side project since then. they will be working with the white stripes, the shins, and my morning jacket producer joe chiccarelli. bring it boys.
