song of the day

light asylum – shallow tears

i have been mildly to severely obsessed with this new york duo for the past year. they’ve announced the release of their self-titled debut album this may on mexican summer. this is the album’s first single. as always, shannon funchess’ vocals are perfectly matched over bruno’s synths and drums and the result is another gorgeous and soaring track. www.lightasylum.com

video of the week

light asylum – in tension – a certain person

i’m posting this video more due to the fact that i’m mildy to greatly obsessed with lead singer shannon funchess and watching her do anything is pretty darn hypnotizing. they released this video last week. it’s directed by l.a.’s eden batki and mixes live and off stage footage. enjoy.

song of the day

light asylum – in tension – dark allies

this brooklyn duo features the ridiculous vocals of shannon funchess, who has gained a fast reputation for being crazy amazing live. i can only imagine. listening to their tracks, you immediately hear the power of her range and emotion amongst the wonderfully lunatic synths. what a force she must be. they self released the ep featuring this song. now, this is surely a dramatic way to start the work week, but what the hell, might as well get her done right. www.lightasylum.com
