flashback of the week

the motels – all four one – only the lonely

it’s 1982. the l.a. (then) foursome release their third and most successful album. their other giant hit was “suddenly last summer” off of little robbers, their fourth album, but this song will always hold a place in my 80s loving heart as one of the best ballads to come out of the era. “only the lonely can play” – dead on martha davis. dead on.

video of the week

jack white – blunderbuss – sixteen saltines

jack white’s debut solo album is set for release at the end of the month and it promises all the raw rock ‘n’ rollness we love from him. “sixteen saltines” is plenty rocking and the video is just as rough and tumble. it features a slew of kids acting all kinds of crazy and you know that never gets old.
