the connecticut trio’s debut retro funky album has everyone’s panties wet and for good reason, psychedelic soul hasn’t been this good for while. their new video falls in line with their trippy tendencies and is quite the impressive ride into the city for one suburban kid. enjoy.

dj shadow – the less you know, the better – scale it back (featuring little dragon)

master of sampling, dj shadow released his fourth album a couple of months back. the album boasts some pretty sick collaborations, including little dragon’s yukimi nagano. this is the video for “scale it back” and it’s a very creative single shot execution of the images “memory man” uses to memorize a deck of cards. intrigued? you should be.

tom waits – bad as me – satisfied

tom waits is the perennial badass, is he not? bad as me released last month and is his 17th studio album. yes. seventeen. it’s awesome. what’s also awesome is him dancing around his backyard making crazy faces. if i have that much verve at 61, god bless me. legend kids. legend.

real estate – days – it’s real

the brooklynites dropped their sophomore album last month and their video for the album’s lead single will make any dog lover weak in the knees. i love my canine friends and this video has captured some pretty fiercely adorable dogs being awesome moments that are so cute, i’ve rewound to watch again. whoof.

you may have already seen this video because in the last week, it’s been spreading like wildfire. it’s beyond brilliant and most definitely not safe for work. it’s level 10 gross, but in-f*cking-credible. i will just say two words. crotch. faces. enjoy!

eugene mcguinness – lion

london’s eugene mcguinness just dropped this new single and the accompanying video. it’s nothing ground breaking, but videos rarely look this good and damn, if those background dancers aren’t fun as hell to watch. the video borders on intimidating, it’s so sharp and stylized and mcguinness’s attitude is unshakable. not to mention, ladies (or men) – the man can wear a suit. enjoy.

tv girl – benny and the jetts – baby you were there

the san diego boys released their super fun ep, benny and the jetts, this summer and this video a couple of months back. it’s stop motion adorableness that suits the song perfectly. it features a drab couple and their dancing dinners. the cute factor is pretty high. enjoy.

ty segall – goodbye bread

california’s ty segall released a new album this summer, to much acclaim. he’s now released the video for the album’s title track. it’s a one shot slow motion scene of an outrageous party with nipples and beer slinging in all. if you’ve ever sat in the corner of a party gone wild and thought to yourself, “who are these people and how did i get here?”,  this video will speak volumes.

battles – gloss drop – my machine

the directing duo, daniels, are pretty unstoppable at the moment. i’d be confident to say the are the best music video directors out there right now. their latest is for new york’s math rock gurus, battles, who released their sophomore album early this summer and this track features gary numan, who is also in the video. it’s a seemingly one shot take centered around an escalator. it’s brilliant. enjoy.

cut copy – zonoscope – blink and you’ll miss a revolution

the aussie boys have jumped on the planet of the apes bandwagon with their latest video. the band themselves are dismembered and the apes are pretty entertaining, which makes for one fun video. it was directed by emile sornin from french production company division. enjoy.

strange boys – live music – me and you

austin’s strange boys are set to release their third album next month. this is their first single with accompanying video. it really doesn’t get more charming than this kids. shot on a low-budget and locally in texas, the video is both hilarious and endearing and proves that all you need is a good idea to win over an audience. consider me won.

the lousiana squad released their debut album in june and it’s proven quite the excellent summer album. their latest video for their second single is just in time for the end of summer. it features the band and their younger selves being all kinds of delightful. it’s perfectly peppy and uber fun. enjoy.

julian lynch makes the kind of music perfectly suited for long gorgeous shots in simple, yet captivating videos. his new video is perfect for summer and evokes a sense of nostalgia that only scenic bike rides can. it really makes you want to grab your headphones, his album, and your favorite two wheeler to take a spin for as far as you can. enjoy.

chromeo – business casual – when the night falls

the funk duo have always been on the forefront of sick music videos and their latest, directed by the consistently genius directors daniels, is another gem on the roster. it’s so good, it’s best watched and not so much explained. i don’t want to foil your enjoyment with my silly words, but i will say it features some foxy pregnants ladies. enjoy.

mayer hawthorne – how do you do – a long time

the soulicious white kid from michigan is set to drop his sophomore album this fall and this new video for his lead single from the upcoming release is so bomb, he’s got people buzzing loud and far. expectations are high and well-deserved. the video is comprised of vintage vhs footage of a detroit dance show and if i could steal any of the dance moves, i’d steal them all. don’t miss the very special ending. enjoy.
