a new clinic album out in the fall

our crazy mask wearing liverpool boys are back with a new album, bubblegum, in october and their website states it’s “a rewiring of clinic’s trademark hyped up sound. in place of churning riffs and wired vocals is a dream state of harpsichords, dulcimers and strings. melody and softness combine with the band’s unique internal logic to produce a record of pop beauty.” strings? harpsichords? hook, line, and sinker. i’m sold. sign me up. stick a fork… all that good stuff.

new radiohead album almost complete

calling all radiohead fans to their feet. guitarist ed o’brien told bbc 6 music today the new album is weeks away from the finish and he thinks it’s the best record they’ve ever made. omfg is right. “we’re in the heart of the record. it’s genuinely exciting. it’s very different from what we did last time. it’s really nice to be doing this. it’s so good to be making music with the band that you feel is still as good as it’s ever been.” he was asked when we could expect the release of the record and stated, “no, ideally, it would be great if it came out sometime this year. it has got to. i hope so. we’re at the finishing line. when you’re making a record, film, write a book for ages and ages you think the finishing line is miles away. now it feels it’s in the touching distance. but of course, it being a creative process, at the last bit also, you have bursts of energy, you achieve a lot of things in a small period of time and then you’re nearly there… it might slow down. but yeah, hopefully, it will be a matter of weeks.” two words. fuck. yeah.

the walkmen release new album in september

at last, another album from our beloved brooklynites the walkmen. their fifth studio album is called lisbon and will be released september 14th on fat possum. frontman hamilton leithauser told pitchfork in february, “there is a lot of stuff that’s elvis-sounding, like early elvis and sun records kind of sounds. we have just so many eight-tracks over the last year; the list is just unbelievable… the instrumentation is very simple, and then there’s a very loud vocal and a softish drum. there is a slapback guitar on everything. i don’t know if it will end up being used at all, but i think that was a starting point for a lot of stuff that paul looped with the guitar.” sounds like a treat of an album.
