flashback of the week

bill withers – still bill – use me

it’s 1972. the virginia native releases his second album. he’s probably best known for “ain’t no sunshine”, which he won a grammy for this same year. “use me” is hella funky though and just as soulful and has always incited instant head-bobbing for me.

video of the week

tenacious d – rise of the fenix

the comedy rock duo haven’t released an album in six years, but they are back this month with rise of the fenix and the video for the album’s title track is chock full of laughs. jack black is back in the music circuit ya’ll and bellies are sure to be achin’. enjoy!

song of the day

ko ko – float – so strange

this l.a. brother duo have their debut ep streaming on their bandcamp and it’s stunning, dreamy stuff drowning in reverb you shouldn’t hesitate to get on board with. this track is one of the most gorgeous songs i’ve heard in a while, with it’s arresting organs and falsetto. crazy crazy good. www.facebook.com/longlivekoko
