nick cave & the bad seeds – the good son – the weeping song
it’s 1990. the aussie icon and his bad seeds release their sixth album. “the weeping song” is somber as hell, in true nick cave fashion, and one of my favorites on a short list of songs that always bring me to my knees.
the l.a. ladies’ sophomore album was packed with some pretty excellent songs, but this track still holds the lead as the album’s greatest achievement. its new single-shot video serves the ballad’s emotions well. it’s a nod to a 1965 yoko ono performance piece and achieves a somber, yet powerful tone. enjoy.
london’s jamie n commons released this new single overseas a couple of weeks ago. for someone in his twenties, the rasp in his voice would certainly suggest he’s much older than his young years. he’s got mad, crazy soul and fans of tom waits will be impressed. here’s a little grit for your sunday brunch. www.jamiencommons.com
