roxy music – siren – love is the drug

it’s 1975. the brits release their fifth album and the song makes it overseas to slow coming americans who finally get the genius that is bryan ferry and band. they released 8 studio albums to date and there was a 9th rumored album some years back that was never released. genius does not more genius than this.

video of the week

miike snow – the rabbit

this single is a new track on the deluxe edition of the swede’s debut album released a couple of months ago and the video is nothing short of siick (pronounced sick). jokes aside, it’s amazing. the lead kid has a full beard. need i say more?

new radiohead album almost complete

calling all radiohead fans to their feet. guitarist ed o’brien told bbc 6 music today the new album is weeks away from the finish and he thinks it’s the best record they’ve ever made. omfg is right. “we’re in the heart of the record. it’s genuinely exciting. it’s very different from what we did last time. it’s really nice to be doing this. it’s so good to be making music with the band that you feel is still as good as it’s ever been.” he was asked when we could expect the release of the record and stated, “no, ideally, it would be great if it came out sometime this year. it has got to. i hope so. we’re at the finishing line. when you’re making a record, film, write a book for ages and ages you think the finishing line is miles away. now it feels it’s in the touching distance. but of course, it being a creative process, at the last bit also, you have bursts of energy, you achieve a lot of things in a small period of time and then you’re nearly there… it might slow down. but yeah, hopefully, it will be a matter of weeks.” two words. fuck. yeah.

song of the day

passion pit – manners – dreams

we all have some soft spot in our hearts for the cranberries. admit it. these cambridge boys covered this famous 1994 swooner of a song on the reissue of manners and it’s a nice sunday song for the nostalgic at heart. thank god for reissues and thanks to lead singer michael angelakos who can wail out that falsetto like the best of the ladies.
