siouxsie and the banshees – playground twist

it’s 1979. what a year. the pol pot regime has collapsed in cambodia. saddam hussein is elected president of iraq. margaret thatcher is elected the first female british prime minister. china limits their families to one child per family as population control.  the nba adopts the three-pointer as espn begins broadcasting. rings are discovered around jupiter. the first case of aids is reported to the center of disease control. the deer hunter, kramer vs kramer, and apocalyspe now are moving audiences in theaters across the states. sam shepard wins a pulitzer prize for buried child. blondie hits the scene to join the airwaves with reining chart-toppers  billy joel, bob seger, the knack, rod stewart, the bee gees, and the village people. good thing sony just released the walkmen.
