jason lytle and aaron burtch of grandaddy have joined up with earlimart’s aaron espinoza and ariana murray to form admiral radley. match made in heaven. apparently, the band name came from a craigslist ad that jason stumbled upon, possibly in the market for a 747… these indie giants have some upcoming shows in dallas, austin, and los angeles. check out their website and twitter.
doug fieger , 57, died of lung cancer after a 5 year battle yesterday at his home in woodland hills, california. the knack is most famously known for the classic “my sharona”. it was a number 1 single in 1979 and since, the band has had a few other notable hits, “good girls don’t”, “baby talks dirty”, and “rock o’ love”. as many times as i’ve heard “my sharona”, i must admit, it never gets old. thanks doug for an unforgettable song and blazing the trail for new wave awesomeness i’m sure generations to come will continue to love to dance to.
desire – under your spell
last year glass vegas’ and chromatics’ johnny jewel started another side project, this time with canadian megan louise. the band, desire, is another success for the electro guru. this song makes me wanna rip my tank top, fasten it back together with safety pins, and stand around a dark, smokey bar clapping my hands at a drunken 3am hour.
